I love cities. Vancouver is a wonderful place - ringed by mountains and stretching out into the sea, it is a city right on the edge of the wilderness. You can watch the sea planes launch from the shadow of the downtown highrises and head north, where civilisation ends for hundreds of kilometers.
But Vancouver is still a small town that grew. A hundred and fifty years ago this place was all woods, with a dozen wooden sheds slapped together. We still haven't woken up and realised that we are a city now, with the potential to be great.
Give it time.
