My Ph.D. thesis about reader comments examines discussions about the revelation that Edward Snowden was the NSA leaker, and the death of technology activist Aaron Swartz.
I have analyzed comments on several news discussions and topics:
- In 2015, citizens in Vancouver, B.C. voted against a tax for transit improvements. Why did commenters say they were opposed?
- Commenters in are often critical of Canadian immigration. How did this play out during and after the 2015 federal election campaign, and how did comments compare with opinion polls?
